Darkness and Light

1 Corinthians 4:5

Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.

Have you ever been walking in the dark and looked ahead and thought you  something moving that startled you and fear gripped your heart if only for a second? Then you turned your flashlight on it and it was just a tree or bush that looked as if it were moving in the shadows?

How many times do we let fear take over our lives and we just live in darkness?

Luke 12:3-4

What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs.
“I tell you, my friends,(A) do not be afraid of those who kill the body and after that can do no more.

When you lose a spouse or any loved one this can easily happen if you let it…you can walk in the
darkness all your life or you can let the light shine on your dark places…His Light not only exposes
the dark places but gives warmth and healing as He alone has done for me.

Its a choice…even if you haven't lost a loved one …we all have the dark places in our lives.
Will you choose to let The Light Of His Love Shine and bring a change in YOUR Life?

John 3:16-21

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son. 19 This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.

Look at your heart…What does it say to you?

Acts 2:38
38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Independence Day

Thinking of my dad today…This is his craftsmanship…As I thought about my life and putting it back together again…

looked over at the Uncle Sam laying on the ground broken and paint chipped…One of the few things I have left that he made...

Something inside said.."Pick it up and fix it" So I did…and I realized that's exactly what Jesus is doing for me…He is fixing me and putting me back together again!

Luke 10:27 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.”

So many of my 4th of July's were spent with Mell in Alaska or other places... it seems strange to be here! But anyway…Happy 4th of July !!!

Life Adventure Journey Continues...

Elk in the Smokies

Osprey Nest on the Island

Sea bass caught at Barbour Island Pond

Drum fish caught at Barbour Island Pond

Barbour Island from Bird Island
Avi meets Pig!

Avi swimming with the Big dogs!

Bird Island…Steve & Mindi's grandson

Avi watching over her chicks
they are twice this size now!

Chicken run and coop…I built the run…the coop was already there.
It was a playhouse for the boys when they were little.

My garden  when I first planted it..the tomatoes are higher than
the house now!

A side trail in the Smokies to an old logging road. Ruins of  something?

Its been six months since I have written ... I feel God’s press
that its time to write again.
So much has happened since January...
In March I decided to get baby chicks...I love animals and somehow it’s sorta been therapy to me...I started a garden and have lots of tomatoes!
I love watching things grow! Even the baby chicks which are
now about 3 months old and starting to look like chickens!
I notice each little change ... Its amazing what God has made and the way He made us!
There has been much change in me too! I still can’t wait to see Mell again and I stand on that Hope! I don’t think that will ever change, but the intense pain has eased and I hate thinking that someone else has to endure such PAIN!
My friend who just lost her dad called the other day and now her 16 year old dog is near death. Her intense pain reminded me of how we need to cherish the time we have with our loved ones...slow down and smell the roses!
I have endured several small accidents and with each I found myself missing Mell all the more. With each I could hear him say...”You be careful” “OK?”...He was always telling me to be careful in everything I maybe I forget to be careful without him...but I always hear him afterwards! Oh much for hindsight!
I spent 8 days at the longest trip since losing Mell...
Have done several backpacks...
I Started a new small group in my home...God has been good...and I can’t complain.
Psalm 145:3
Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
    and his greatness is unsearchable.

The AHA Moment

Marsh Hike

This Sunset turned into the next picture...

As I watched the sun set …I watched the artist "God"
as He painted this picture right before my eyes..
at almost the same moment an osprey cried and I looked up. It was chasing a Bald Eagle.
Big God Moment…He touched my heart ...

The Past two weeks Pastor Kevin has been teaching on the life of Nehemiah. Nehemiah goes to the
King and request to rebuild the walls of Jeruselem. The King grants him his request…but now he has
to be industrious…He has to dig in and get it done. He came up with an ingenious idea…
(The AHA!!) God is the author of the Aha moments... ingenious ideas!!

but a lot has to happen for the walls to get rebuilt.  He faces many obstacles along the way and he could have quit…He hits dead ends and has to dig out of them.

James 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance4 Let perseverance (industrious)finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.

So Now my story…I was driving home from church on Sunday and was thinking about this Aha moment…I said to God…"That's what I need …an Aha moment"
Just then a car passed me and on the license plate was   (AHA 7872)  I just began
to Laugh out Loud..

God has a sense of humor!!! But now the even funnier part…
I had also told God that week how much I missed Mell's
sense of humor and how he made me laugh all the time…
The kids all called it (Mell jokes)

This was something that Mell would of done if he could have pulled it off !!

So this is the kindness of God... to give me a "Mell Joke" just to make me laugh again!!! I love Him So...
